FiberMagicTM is a new product line
from Illumination Management Solutions
IMS is an innovator in the lighting industry, created by the overwhelming
need for better optical solutions utilizing the new ‘high-performance’ LEDs.
LED technology has the potential to replace most every traditional means of
providing light to the world’s darkness, but the vast majority of providers
of product to the marketplace are neither trained nor experienced in the
field of non-imaging optics, nor would we expect them to be.
The principals of IMS, Ron Holder and Greg Rhoads, together have over
thirty years combined experience and success providing optimum solutions in
the traditional illumination field and have applied this background to
several stunning achievements in the emerging LED illumination marketplace.
Greg Rhoads’ background includes that of co-founder of Radiant Imaging, the
first and still leader in computerized photometry. Greg was partly
responsible for many projects including providing illumination solutions to
Kodak for their first disposable flash camera and an illumination system for
the then fabulous 12,000 lumen Hughes-JVC projector. Additional
illumination related projects included: optimizing the output of theatrical
lighting for Electronic Theater Controls (“ETC”), the Source Four, a product
that revolutionized that industry. When the competitors required 1000 watts,
Radiant provided a design with the output of standard 1000 watt fixtures,
but used only 500 watts of energy! This propelled ETC from fourth to first
in sales in their market and they remain on top even now, over 10 years
later.
Greg was Director of Engineering for New Image, the world leader in imaging
camera systems for the Dental profession. Greg and Ron teamed up to create
the world’s first 1000 lumen and then 1200 lumen portable projector for
Prolux. These were brought to market when the competition was nearly
one-fourth as bright at 250 lumens.
Ron Holder’s formal training is that of naval architect. In 1974 he
designed the world’s fastest two-man sailboat, the Holder 16, winner of
Yachting Magazine’s One-of-a-Kind regatta. His sailboat designs were
produced on five continents and over 15,000 boats have been built to Ron
Holder’s designs. Ron also served as Vice President of Design for Hobie Cat,
a division of the Coleman Corporation as well as President/CEO of Holder
Sailboats, also a Coleman subsidiary. Ron co-founded CAD Research, a design
and product development company, nearly 20 years ago.
CAD Research clients included General Motors, Rockwell, Hughes, B/E
Avionics, Samsonite, Hunt Wesson and many others. Products designed and
developed include: the first broadcast quality digital camera in cooperation
with IBM, Ikegami and Avid; a sophisticated data acquisition system for F-16
and similar aircraft for TEAC and a BGA (ball grid array) inspection system
for Metcal, a division of the Dover Corporation.
Ron and Greg hold a number of patents in a wide spectrum of industries
including; marine, medical, aerospace, automotive and illumination.
Between them, Ron and Greg have designed over 100 illumination products
ranging from lighted toy microscopes to very complex projection systems.
Five years ago they teamed up to purchase CAD Research for the specific
purpose of seeking out an opportunity to use their combined experiences.
They sought to discover within the vast client base of CAD Research an
opportunity to spawn the market success they had helped so many others
enjoy. Late in 2002, four years later, they found that opportunity in LED
lighting.
IMS is now using Ron and Greg’s vast illumination background to generate
products for everything from flashlights to streetlights and toys to
life-saving equipment.
In January of 2003, IMS demonstrated a 1-watt LED flashlight that is over 6
times the light output as a 2 ‘D’ cell Mag-Lite using less than one-fourth
the battery energy. That’s up to 24 times more efficient!
In March 2003, IMS was on the market with a dental operatory headlight that
was more than equal in light output to it’s incandescent counterpart, but
boasts four times the useful battery life. This product has already been
named a ‘Top 100 new dental products’ award winner.
In September 2003, the first flashlights using IMS technology were
delivered by Pelican Manufacturing, a world recognized leader in technical
and recreational flashlight markets. Several other flashlight companies also
selected IMS to provide their LED solutions.
NOW AVAILABLE! IMS has introduced it's
line of fiber engines! Read on or contact us for more details!
